I am always surprised by how many GLBT specific organizations exist today. You would think with so many organizations dedicated to equality we would have accomplished it already. What is sad to think of is for every organization working toward equality there are probably just as many working against it. Just think of what we could all accomplish if we did not have to focus on equal rights. What if all Americans were given the same rights, regardless of sex, race, or sexual orientation. What if civil rights were not something we had to fight for. Think of all the good we could do with all of our time, energy and money.
I came across another organization today and I found it fitting for me as it is called “Straight for Equality.” This organization was created by PFLAG National and it is dedicated to empower GLBT allies in supporting and advocating on behalf of the GLBT community. I had never heard of this organization until tonight, but they seem to be a great resource and I would suggest playing around on their website. They have a lot of great information on national outreach and educational tools on how to speak out.
The organization also has an online pledge you can take in support of the GLBT community. Not sure what they do with the pledge but I signed it anyways, as I suggest you do too!
